Full-frame showdown: Nikon D850 vs Canon 5D IV vs Sony a7R III Jan 30, 2018 Canon and Sony dominate Lensrentals' most rented gear of 2017 list. Testing the Range of Color profiles on canon 5D Mark II Used Canon 85mm f1.2 Canon 5D Mark II LED light source, YONGNUO YN-160 LED Video Light DSLR Camera DV. I live in New England and have been using my new Canon 5D MK IV to shoot autumn foliage over the past few weeks. When processing my old Canon 5D MKIII images in Lightroom, I often had issues with the colors and contrast generated by the Adobe Standard profile. To my eye, the reds were too orange, and the yellows were muddy. I usually got somewhat better results by using the Camera Standard profile instead. Often I would still find myself fiddling with HSL color adjustments and contrast, no matter which profile was used. So when I acquired the 5D MK IV, I decided to buy an XRite Color Checker Passport and create a custom profile for my MK IV. Well, I'm really glad that I did. I made a custom profile for overcast light and applied it to this image of autumn foliage. The images below are with the Adobe Standard profile, the Camera Standard profile, and the Custom profile. No other adjustments have been made to these images other than correcting white balance for a blue cast by clicking the eyedropper on a grey tree trunk (the same white balance is used in all 3 images). To my eye the custom profile is significantly better than the Adobe Standard, and more pleasing than the Camera Standard profile. I know essentially the same look can be created by tweaking Lightroom sliders. But based on these results, the custom profile should save me a fair amount of time. Are you afraid that someone may steal your photos? Most people here want to take their own photos, not steal them That's the only comment you have, really? I'm relatively new to DPReview and I wasn't sure what size images to post. I'm not worried about people stealing my pictures. These images aren't worth stealing, so whatever would make you think I'm worried about that? The image are large enough to illustrate the point that I was trying to make. What I was really looking for were comments like those received from DotCom Editor.. I'm not suggesting you abandon Lightroom because I'm sure you had good reasons for choosing it. However sometimes Adobe's profiles don't really match what Canon intended. Just as quick experiment you might want to try Canon's DPP (if you haven't already - it is included on the Digital Solutions disc that came with your 5D IV).
